Engine Management System Upgrade

Many of our customers are upgrading their ignition and engine management systems to more modern equipment. However, changing the combustion characteristics and air requirements of an engine may inhibit the ability of the turbocharger to meet the demands placed upon it.

Alamo has tried to be proactive in these situations, but many times we only become aware of changes after the fact, when there is a problem with the turbocharger not making enough manifold pressure. This has become a major source of frustration for us!

If we have the opportunity, we can survey a particular situation and recommend changes to the turbocharger as required. We manufacture many special components just for this purpose to increase the efficiency of turbochargers. An example would be our “billet” fully machined diffuser rings for the eight cylinder Superior engines (as shown).

We can build a tested and dedicated unit for your application if you give us a telephone call.

Extreme Duty 3500® Turbochargers

We now have turbochargers in stock for the twelve cylinder 3500 engines. To date we have seen no failures of the units we have in service, but we continue to see failures of the latest O.E.M. offerings.

Charge Air Filter Systems

Contaminated or dirty charge-air continues to be one of the leading causes of turbocharger failures again this year. If this is a problem for you please call and let us consult with you. We have many options including new complete systems and reconditioned exchange units for the oil-bath filters.

3600® Turbocharger Failures (VTC-254)

This figure shows a bearing on the verge of failure. This would have caused a catastrophic failure of the turbocharger in a very short time. We believe that this is the root cause of many of these types of failures.

Alamo has a solution to this problem and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss it with you.

Thanks for your support.
